Our Vilnius Adventure

Yesterday the three of us went to the Canadian Embassy in Vilnius to renew Phil's passport.  It's about a 4.5 hour train ride each way.  We left our apartment at about 6am and got back at about 10:45pm.  Can anyone say, Long Day!?!

But it was fun.

We were done at the Embassy by about 1:30pm, and our train didn't leave again until 5:40pm, so we passed some time in a park.

Bethany was practicing standing up on her own.  It lasts for about, well, half a second; the time it takes for her to fall down.  (My right hand was touching her in those first two pics).  Kind of reminds me of this picture:
"Sitting" - aka: Delayed Falling

When we were done at the park we started walking in the general direction of the train station and we found this beautiful church:

And then we got to the train station.

Before we got on, Bethany was stretching her legs.  My favourite part is the pause to wave at the camera.  :)

Most of the train had regular seats; rows with two on each side and an aisle in the middle.  But at the back there was this great little room with six seats, and that's where our seats were.  We had this room to ourselves for about the first third of the trip on the way there, an then other people got on.

There were other people in it with us for most of the trip home, but then at the last stop before ours the other family got off, so we could stretch out for the last 20 minutes or so.

We had a great time, although I was not so excited when the woman at the Embassy said they couldn't mail the passport to us, and we'd have to return in three weeks to pick it up.  Hopefully we can work something out with somebody else from LCC who's headed to Vilnius around that time.

  2. I was surprised to see that you're getting your passport done. Why didn't you do it before you left your home country? I'm looking forward to see all of you when you come home for a brief visit. Brthany looks like she had a great time at the park!

    1. Hey Leah

Thanks for the comments! We were wondering where you'd gone. :)

As far as Phil's passport, it was still good for awhile yet (until April) so we didn't really think about it, but they want it to be good for longer than a year while we're here. Also, the staff at LCC had already started working on applications for our Temporary Residence Permits, and they used Phil's old passport number to do those applications, so we didn't really think we could change his passport in the middle of applying.
