Two Sentences You Never Want to Hear 30 Seconds Apart, and Other Stories

"I a drink o' water?"

"I got t' get a towel.  Be right back."

It took a while, but the couch cushions eventually dried out.  :)

In other news, our trip to Tartu was a great success.  We stayed in a guest apartment, which included one bedroom, a living room with a pull-out couch, and a full kitchen and bathroom.  It was a whole lot easier to keep the kids entertained in there than it would have been in a little hotel room.  And Bethany tackled the three-and-a-half flights of stairs up and down each day with gusto (but we definitely made sure we only had to go out once a day!).

While Phil was at the conference, the kids and I went to the Science Centre.

We left a little message on the chalk board.

Bethany "drove" a car...

...while Andrew sat and thought, "Man, I'm bored.  I wish I was big enough to drive a car."

The next day we went to a really cool toy museum, but cameras weren't allowed in there.

At the apartment, Bethany slept in the bedroom, Phil and I slept on the pull-out, and Andrew slept on the floor (between a pile of shoes and the bathroom door.  He was really living it up).  One day while the kids were napping, I was reading on the couch and I heard Andrew stir a little.  He hardly made any noise, though, and I figured he was just shifting in his sleep.  Then I looked up, and there he was, crawling around like he owned the place.  He looked like he was thinking, "Yup, well, I'm ready to play now."  I guess if you sleep on the floor you get to decide for yourself when nap time is over.
A couple of minutes after this picture, I had to go and get him because he couldn't figure out how to get out from under the table.

At a rest stop on the way to Tartu, Phil and Andrew conquered a mountain (or climbed a hill; look at it however you want).

The University where Phil's conference took place.  Don't worry, only half of the conference was in Estonian, not the whole thing.  :)

The weekend after Tartu, we celebrated Bethany's birthday.  "Happy Birthday" has now earned itself a solid place among Bethany's favourite songs, along with the ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Jesus Loves Me.  And her new winter boots have earned a place among her favourite pieces of clothing.

And peanut butter icing has earned itself a spot among my favourite foods.  Yowza.

And so, that was the last couple of weeks.  And tomorrow we're off to Vilnius.  I'll try to be a little quicker this time with the pictures.  Including some shots of Andrew with his Citizenship Certificate!

For now, some shots of Andrew and his climbing abilities.  The bottom shelf-thing on the coffee table was already broken.  But Andrew laughs in the face of broken tables and scales them anyway.

  1. I'm glad the trip to Tartu was a success. I love the pictures of Bethany by the birthday message chalkboard and looking at her birthday cupcake. I love the pictures of Andrew getting stuck under the chair and crawling over the coffee table.
