I got majorly glared at today.
I was in the grocery store, and Bethany was crying for no particular reason other than she's a baby and that's what babies do. I was standing in front of the instant coffee, trying to figure out which kind to buy (I've never bought instant coffee before). A lady came around the corner, and from the look she gave me, I'm surprised fire didn't start shooting out of her eyes. After a few seconds she said to Bethany, "Oh, why are you crying?" to which I responded, with a smile and a shrug, "Who knows?" With another glare, (and as much judgement as her voice could muster), she said, "Well, there's usually a reason." Anyway, I didn't want to stand there anymore, so I grabbed the nearest container of instant coffee, (even though it wasn't the one I wanted), continued shopping, and started drafting this blog post in my head.
Bethany stopped crying and fell asleep two minutes later. After we had gotten most of our other groceries, we went back to that aisle and picked out the perfect instant coffee. I was kind of disappointed that we didn't run into the lady again once Bethany was sleeping, just so she could see that there wasn't actually anything to worry about. :)
I hope I've never looked at anyone like that. But the fact is, I probably have. So let this be a lesson to me not to think I know more about someone else's parenting than I actually do. And if I don't think it, it won't show up as a look on my face.
In other news, this is what Bethany thinks of doing the laundry:
It's tiring, apparently.
This morning, Bethany made this... Can you guess how?
Phil and Mom Allan, you can't guess, because I already told you!
The water has been shut off in our building during business hours for the last five days. It's not actually as annoying as you might think. It just means an early-morning trip to the laundry room so that the clothes can be out of the washer before 9am. And I've heard talk that today might be the last day. That would be good.
Hope you're having a great Tuesday!
Cute that Bethany fell asleep in the carrier.
ReplyDeleteI can tell that Bethany had been doing some painted but not sure with what. Is that a foot print at the top of the page?
Happy 5-months-old-day Bethany!
