Bethany did really well on the plane. Our hotel was a little underwhelming, but I guess I got what I paid for. And really, the hotel served its purpose just fine.
On the first day while Phil was at the conference, Bethany and I walked around the mall and went to a movie. On the second day Phil was only at the conference for a few hours in the afternoon. In the morning we all went for a walk together down to the water. And then in the evening we went to a sports bar and watched (what else?) basketball. Bethany says Go Witchita St! (The heaviest crayon mark she made on her bracket was near Witchita St so we decided that's who she picked to win).
And then on Saturday Phil was at the conference again and Bethany and I went here:
It was my favourite part of the trip. The main exhibit that they have are two big tunnels that you can walk through with fish and sharks swimming all around you.

Upstairs they had another area with other animals like turtles.
In the other part they also had a couple of small ponds that you could reach into and touch starfish. Bethany couldn't reach far enough into the pond, so one of the staff reached in and pulled a starfish right out of the water and held it out for her so she could touch it. And then she promptly stuck her fingers in her mouth. Of course.
My favourite part was the octopus, but my pictures of it didn't really turn out.
By the time we got back to the hotel after the aquarium it was about 1:30pm. Phil was going to be at the conference till 6:00, and Bethany and I didn't want to sit around that long, so we decided to head back out and try to find a park. We walked around for awhile, and by the time we actually got to the playground, Bethany was tired.
No, I mean really tired - look:

And then it was Sunday and it was time to head home. Bethany did great on the plane once again, and now we're just settling in and dealing with the laundry and unpacking. It was a great trip!

Hey, I thought I had left a comment about this post. Something about how our daughter's March Madness bracket makes her among the only 0.2% of people who actually picked Witchita St to go to the Final Four? Way to go, indeed, Bethany!
ReplyDeleteYou left that on the Gowing, Growing, Growing post. :)
DeleteGlad you all had a great time!
