An Apple, a Picture, and an Ugly Duckling

We were in the grocery store.  We went through the produce section.  We went through the dairy section.  We were in the frozen foods section.  By now it had been close to ten minutes since we'd been in produce.  I looked down, and I saw Bethany sitting in her stroller, holding a HALF-EATEN APPLE!  She must have grabbed it as we went past the apples and I didn't notice.  Of course I took it away from her right away, and she screamed like crazy, as if it was totally normal that she should have that apple and be able to eat it.  So then we finish shopping and arrive at the checkout, and I present the half-eaten apple to the cashier and try to explain what had happened using my charades and acting skills.  She just shrugged, and passed the apple along to the other side of the scanner with all the other groceries.  I brought it home and was fully intending to take a picture of it for this blog, but the camera was out of batteries, and then I forgot, and ate it.  (The apple, not the camera).

How can a not-even-one-year-old with six little teeth eat an apple like that?  Oh.  My.  Stars.

In other news, I had a OB appointment.  And:

There (s)he is!  It wasn't the regular ultrasound done by an ultrasound tech (that will be in October), the doctor just had a little portable machine there in her office and she wanted to take a quick peek.  I had a better view at different points, but of course when it came time to print a picture the baby kept moving into a worse position.  :)  Causing trouble already!  I could see the arms and legs and I could see the little heart moving.  :)

In other other news, Wednesday night was the Ugly Duckling Cup here at LCC.  Four teams, (one from each wing of the residence buildings and one staff/faculty team), could compete in some sort of relay...I'm not really sure, it involved water balloons, and a team cheer...and it culminated in this:
This is the one from 2009.  (Feel free to skip ahead to about 0:55.  And to stop watching whenever.  It's just more of the same.  You get the idea).

But this year, the staff and faculty didn't have enough participants to make up a team.  Why am I telling you this?  Because I volunteered to row!  Yup, that's right.  They sent out an email saying they needed more people for the team, and I said I would row the raft.  Then I spent the next day and a half hoping that we wouldn't have enough people so I wouldn't actually have to do it.  And we didn't!  So I didn't.

But it might have actually been fun...Nah, too crazy.  But fun...

  2. That's funny that Bethany grabbed an apple in the store and started to eat it without you notice it and then you had to explain by acting out to the cashier what happened. Bethany is very sneaky!

Cool to see the ultrasound picture! I can't wait to meet my future niece/nephew!
