The Evolution of a Cake

We had company for dinner tonight.  I decided to attempt Kraft's "Tuxedo Cake", with a few tweaks to make it simpler (Devil's food cake? - chocolate will do.  Cream cheese icing from scratch? - white icing from a can is just fine.  Garnish with chocolate shavings? - Um.  No.)

And here it is:
(I do know how to stir.  The speckled-ness is just because I floured the cake pans).
Not quite the next Kraft magazine cover photo, but it's cake; it tastes good no matter what.   :)

And the after shot:
I guess it was a hit!

Just so you know, I did serve a meal for dinner; not just cake.  But photos of a pot of spaghetti aren't nearly this exciting.

And in case you thought I did this alone,
My Helper:
and My Taster:

And then there was The Aftermath:
I definitely didn't deal with that alone.  (Thanks, Sweetie!)

And now everything's all cleaned up and it's time for bed.  Goodnight!

  1. Where is Bethany's other sock? I hope she didn't put it in the cake mix without your notice and baked. ;)

  2. Yeah, I didn't even notice that her sock was off until I was looking at the pictures afterwards. So far we haven't come across it in the cake. :) Another time she was down a sock was when we were at the playdate where she was using the other girl's Bumbo. The other girl pulled off Bethany's sock and stuck it in her mouth!
